M1 BLAST!!!

The Lime Rock Vintage Festival
is now run by Steve Earle, the man behind the Monterey
Historics. This is the second year of BMW's
return as presenting sponsor. The 25th Anniversary
of the M1 will be celebrated as part of this year's
festival, with M1 owners from all over North America
attending as guests of BMW NA. It will be
the largest turnout of M1s ever in North America,
with almost 20 cars already committed. Among
the featured cars will be the Andy Warhol Art Car,
the original "turbo" concept car, the
IMSA Championship and runnerup ProCars, the first
M1 prototype, the first ProCar prototype, and several
immaculate road cars. Hans Stuck will be present
to discuss his role in the development of the M1.
There will be parade laps by the M1s during the
vintage races on Saturday and Monday. The
Sunday Concours will have an M1-only class, with
a trophy presented by BMW. There will be a
special exhibition tent featuring special M1s, M1
memorabilia, and M1 celebrities. Cars will
be coming from as far away as California, Canada
and Arizona, as well as seven other states.
It is being organized by the M1 Register.
