Welcome to the BMW M1 Site
Between the years of 1978 and 1981,
there were 455 BMW M1's manufactured by BMW Motorsport. The
M1 with its throaty 6 cylinder engine and great styling makes
it an easy car to love. However, since the vehicle hasn't
been manufactured since 1981, it makes the car hard to maintain.
This is especially true for the very
few individuals in the world who still race them competitively.
As a result, most M1's still in existence have been retired
to museums or private collections although some are still
driven.
This site is dedicated to the sharing
of information about the M1 to all interested parties; owners,
racers, and enthusiasts alike.
During the 2003
Lime Rock Vintage Festival, the BMW M1 was prominently
displayed for its 25th Anniversary. During this event I was
introduced to Gordon Medenica who handles the
M1 Register and he has allowed us to repost content from
his Newsletter. I would encourage all M1 owners to register
their cars with the M1 Register to help maintain the history
of the M1. There are no dues, fees or obligations and complete
confidentiality.
